Week One Update - Success!

Image
Weigh in #1: Lost 5.5lbs! Current weight: 14stone 3.5lbs. Wowzers. Well, I was pleasantly surprised with week number one. I guess it goes to show that I am capable of doing it when I put my mind to it. For me, the issue is always is sticking to it long term hence the need for this blog! Stepping on the scales and seeing this difference certainly made me smile. I did a little dance around the living room, not going to lie! (hey, if it burns more calories, who cares if I look like a muppet?!) Weekly Overview Favourite meal: My spaghetti carbonara from Pinch of Nom, mainly because I'm so surprised I made it without inflicting food poisoning on anyone! Exercise: Two personal training sessions. Two Couch to 5K runs. 1 five a side football match (20 mins on pitch and 20 mins in goal) Whilst the above is definitely good, I think I need to be more active with walking. I haven't worn my FitBit for a couple of months. It really helps to keep me focussed so I ...

Mid-Week 1 Update

Image
I promised another update before the weekend so here it is! I had intended to write one yesterday but if I'm honest I was far too tired last night after my busy day. - Gym in the morning (06:30 - those of you who know me, and the fact I hate mornings, will know what an achievement this is!) - Very productive, jam-packed day at work - Five a side football match - Cooked dinner! Yes, that's right, true to my word, I cooked the Spaghetti Carbonara recipe from the Pinch of Nom website. Now, I am not exaggerating when I say I am useless in the kitchen. My Grandad gave me "boiling an egg" lessons on several occasions! Consequently, I am ridiculously proud that I made this and it actually tasted really good!  Here, my friends, is the proof! If you'd like to try the recipe out, here it is... http://pinchofnom.com/recipes/syn-free-spaghetti-carbonara-slimming-world/ I would really recommend it. I used bacon instead of gammon (cutting all the ...

For Now...

Before I give my update, I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone for all of your wonderful and encouraging messages of support. My heartfelt thanks to each and every person who contacted me yesterday, you know who you are! I am incredibly lucky to have such a fantastic network of friends. :) Well, I did it. I stepped on the scales this morning. I would love to say it was with some trepidation but it wasn't, it was with absolute certainty that I was the heaviest I've ever been. I wasn't wrong! Hi by the way, and welcome back! If you've just come to have a nosy at what the scales said, don't worry, I won't keep you long. Before I reveal my weight though, I just found it absolutely staggering that the start weight when I first joined Slimming World many moons ago is now a very long way off. It could even be a good interim target to aim for... shameful! I'm not a Slimming World member at the moment; I want to see if I can do this on my own but ...

"Something has changed within me, something is not the same!"

Hello! If you're reading this then one of two things has happened; 1) You've accidentally stumbled across my blog. Great! I hope you enjoy your visit. Let me know what you think! 2) You're a VERY good friend that I have chosen to share this incredibly personal journey with. So what's the deal? Well, my name is Kayleigh and for the last decade, I've been overweight. Since I went to University, I have never shifted the pounds I gained and, shamefully, have added even more on. Unlike many of my friends who, thanks to some choice Facebook stalking, I can see have shed the stones and look fantastic, I have seemingly gone the other way! What's the problem? Am I really unhappy? No. Quite the opposite. I am pretty darn alright! I am a really busy bee; lots of friends, a wonderful family, a good job and some really great hobbies. It's certainly not a case of eating my feelings! Quite frankly... I just bloomin' love a cheeseburger... or ten! So why n...
